Temecula "French Valley"

Another once a year event to arrive in Temecula, French Valley to be more precise, French Valley is the name of the airport in Temecula, a small airport that houses probably upwards of one hundred small private aircraft.

In the spring of each year three second world war bombers arrive for a week’s stay, the aircraft are a B17 Flying Fortress, a B24 Liberator and a B25 Mitchell, the Liberator is the last airworthy one in the world so quite a rare aircraft.

The three aircraft tour around a number of States during the summer allowing veteran air crews a chance to reminisce and for a payment even go along for a short flight, no comfy seats, sit on anything you can find, they were never designed for comfort.

To watch the old air crews walk around the three aircraft, gleaming in the sunshine, checking out every detail and remembering the dark days is an education in itself.

The sight and sound of those powerful old radial engines flying slowly overhead is unforgettable.

I enjoyed their visit very much.
